The rain did not stop us to visit this uber interesting artsy fartsy place near UP. You can ask my friends and they will tell you that I’m obsessed of going and exploring Van Gogh Is Bipolar. This place is really a must-go.
We got there around 7pm and we had to wait for I guess 10 minutes to have seats inside.
The place is dimly lit, which gives off a nice ambience. It’s really a house but it is converted to a resto at night. Since it’s jethro’s house (the name of the owner), customers are treated as guests who want to see his place and dine with him. Jethro prepares the food on his own. Only his niece and aunt help him serve the food.
The menu that night is composed of a three-course meal. The dishes are named after famous people who were bipolar. They serve mood-altering food. While waiting, we were ushered to a corner where we can prepare our own tea. there are different flavors according to moods. The tea is organic. I chose the one that triggers a happy mood, the others took the calming and the upper I think. I’m a tea drinker and I have to say that their tea is so good. The tea is not bitter, but it’s a little minty, different from the teas I’ve tasted.
For the main course, we were asked to chose between salmon and lamb. I chose salmon, to avoid cheating from my diet (I don’t eat meat that much anymore). I think it was named after Pres. Roosevelt. My friends had the lamb, which is named after Pres. Lincoln. It was great! I thought it was brown rice, but jethro said it’s a variety of Philippine rice (oh yeah, I didn’t break my no-white-rice policy. hehe). It was served on top of a cabbage leaf (which triggers serotonin, a happy hormone). The garnish is composed of cabbage and lettuce.
For our drinks, it’s like a mixture of cucumber, grapes, and lemon. It’s called Courtney Love’s Potion.
For the dessert, we had what they call Mel Gibson’s Darkest Sin. It’s wine with chocolate and walnuts. We had to mix it well and drink it as if we’re drinking wine.
The experience was great! Although it’s a little costly, it was worthit! Yay!

Hey, how much did the whole thingy cost? I’d want to try and experience Van Gogh is Bipolar for myself! It looks really interesting.
For that night, since the meal is already a set, it costs P550 each person. Do check out the place! It is indeed interesting and nice!
