The Subtle Kind

Standard

“She is not sure if she loves him. All she knows is she likes staring at the guy sitting across her. She likes the table between them, which shields and limits them. She is aware of the distance. She knows. She knows she can cross over and sit beside him. He knows. But she is fine being just where she is, within reach yet a little distant. He seems alright. It is okay.

Sitting there, she can see his almond-shaped eyes that slightly crease when he smiles. But he does not notice when she heaves a sigh of relief everytime he cracks up. She can hear his quick, easy laughs yet he cannot hear her racing heartbeat. She can feel his unconscious knee jerking when he is thinking about something yet he cannot sense what is on her mind. She likes it. She hopes he does too.”

I wrote this 30 minutes ago because I was inspired by this piece of writing:

Sometimes some things or some people inspire you and you do not have to analyze how and why you feel something. Sometimes you just have to let it go and let things be. A slow burn rather than fireworks this time. I like it subtle. 😉
